I have noticed many new domain owners that register .co.uk names, don't know how to transfer a name to the new owner when domain is sold.
Transferring any UK domain (i.e. .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk etc) to a new owner is done at Nominet level and not through your registrar, in fact they will take no part of the transfer. I will explain how it should work.
Go to Nominet.org.uk and log in, you should have received an email from Nominet when you registered your UK domain, if not don't worry all you have to do is to click on forgot password, and they will send you your new password.
Once you log in, find and click on the Registrant Transfer tap, then follow the instruction, all you need now is the new registrant's email and who will be paying the £10 Plus VAT transfer fee.
Once completed, Nominet will send a transfer email to the new registrant, you will get a transfer completed email once domains has been transfer. For the new owner, all you have to do is wait on the Nominet email and follow the instruction, it's very simple to follow.

Are there any other services apart from Nominet for transferring UK domains names?
ReplyDeleteHi the answer is no, all uk domain transfer has to go through Nominet, when you do a registrant transfer from your own provider i.e. Godaddy, 1and1, etc. You will only have control of the domain and not ownership. Anyway if you try that with a UK domain provider, the transfer will not go through as you're not the owner.
ReplyDeleteSo Remember! Nominet Transfer First Always!
